Anaysis of Ed Sheeran music videos

Mise – en- scene
  • White spotlight used to single her out, when look at something
  •  Park
  • Toilets
  • Flat
  • Ripped tights
  • Short shorts
  • High heels
  • Jumper
  • Sleeping bag
  • Loop earrings
  • Thick black eye liner
  • Lipstick

Sound
  • Second chores she is crying and I matches the lyrics “been this way since 18 but lately her face seems slowly weakling crumbling the pasties the worst things in life come free to us”
  • “sells love to another man” when she has done with her make-up and is standing the car park waiting for a man
  •  “going mad for a couple grams” when he give her the drugs
  • “angles to die” she was at the beginning  of her dead
  • These examples show that the video is based on the lyrics compared to the other music videos 

Camera angles
  •  All the shots in the bathroom are reflected of the mirror which shows what she is doing is not here what she is doing on the outside is not what she feels on the inside

  •  Establishing shot of here in the park
  • Low angle shots to start when she is walk through the tree to show she is happy and

Editing
  • Black and white
  • Fading and dissolving use at the begging to symbolise her dying and fading into another life
  • Scenes speed up to show how the worlds going by without her and





Mise – en- scene
  • Hospital
  • The singer posture shows he waiting for important new.

Sound
  • Starts off with a heart beat kind of sound which matches the length of the images shown, so that also tells the audience that he is in a hospital


Camera angles
  • One continues shot,  throughout the shot you get a mixture of close ups along shots
  • At the begging you get a selection of shots that show where the scene is going to take place


Editing
  • Layered clips of people coming and going from the hospital from children to injured people but as there clip ends it fades out. It shows that people and go every day and some just fade away
  • whole music video has been slowed down

In this music video you can tell that it’s very personal to him as he is the main focus point in the music video where he isn’t in the most of his music videos for more than 20 – 30 seconds.

Mise – en- scene
  • The background is simple and has a single spot light on the teenage boy
  • When the music picks up the lighting flickers and also floods the scene but only for a few seconds


Sound
  • When the back bass drops the lighting either gets lighter or dimmer
  • Editing is fast to match the rap in the music
  • Throughout the music video there is a teenage boy who is sign language the words
  •  As the music kicks in more before the bridge they bring in hip-hop dancers to match then through the bridge they change to a more contemporary dancer, then as the rap picks up again they flick between the two
  • The last chores they add in more back vocals which they match with different clips of people and dancers then all slows down at the end of the song to match with a slow tilt up to show Ed Sheeran
